Hillary Clinton says ‘Deplorables’ comment is ‘grossly generalistic’
Harper Neidig writes at The Hill that Democrat Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kane claims Hillary Clinton need not apologize for her remarks when she referred to half of Donald Trumps supporters as a “basket of deplorables” at a fundraiser hosted by singer Barbara Streisand.

“Wow, Hillary Clinton was SO INSULTING to my supporters, millions of wonderful, hard-working people. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic – you name it”, she said, before stressing that other Trump supporters are frustrated and need sympathy. In light of the outrage, Clinton apologized: “I regret saying ‘half.’ That was wrong”.
Donald Trump earlier said that Hillary Clinton’s remarks calling half of his supporters a “basket of deplorables” is “the worst mistake of the political season”.
“Last night I was “grossly generalistic, ‘ and that’s never a good idea”. Clinton could spend $2.2 million every day until Election Day and still not run out of money, and every month she raises millions of dollars more than Donald Trump.
“So I won’t stop calling out bigotry and racist rhetoric in this campaign”, she said.
Millions of Americans, he said, supported the Republican nominee because they were “sick of corrupt career politicians like Hillary Clinton”.
Republican vice presidential candidate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence speaks to the Value Voters Summit in Washington, Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016.
“Real strength is leveling with the American people and making it clear we will defeat ISIS”, she added. And he has lifted them up.
“We know, for instance, some almost 60 percent of Trump’s supporters hold “unfavorable views” of Islam, and 76 percent support a ban on Muslims entering the United States”, Coates said.
But Trump on Saturday sought to use Clinton’s comments to make the same charge about her.
Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” comments have drawn immediate comparisons to Mitt Romney’s 2012 line about 47% of Americans on government dole supporting Barack Obama and Mr Obama’s 2008 characterisation of downtrodden Pennsylvanians as clinging to guns and religion.
She went on to say that “many of Trump’s supporters are hard-working Americans who just don’t feel like the economy or our political system are working for them”.
“Because she’s being so protected, she could walk into this arena right now and shoot somebody with 20,000 people watching right smack in the middle of the heart and she wouldn’t be prosecuted, okay?” he said.
But for most of the statement, she attacked her rival, accusing him of building “his campaign largely on prejudice and paranoia” and giving a national platform to “hateful views and voices, including by retweeting fringe bigots with a few dozen followers and spreading their message to 11 million people”.
Republicans and Trump supporters responded fiercely on social media to Clinton’s remarks at the LGBT fundraiser and the episode threatened to distract from her efforts to paint Trump as unqualified for the presidency.
“When you are running for President, you are running to represent all Americans, even the ones you think are deplorable”, said Navarro.
On Saturday, Clinton’s staff said she attended another fundraiser at the Armonk, New York, home of attorney David Boies. But reporters traveling with her campaign were not allowed in and did not see her.

“For the first time in a long while, her true feelings came out, showing bigotry and hatred for millions of Americans”, the Republican presidential candidate said.
