Hillary Clinton Says She Won’t Engage in Donald Trump ‘Insult Fest’
In all of these categories Clinton’s ratings have fallen, with a whopping 68% of Americans now saying that Clinton is dishonest and not trustworthy, her worst rating ever in CNN/ORC polling.

“I rallied, like others, around Barack Obama and worked hard for him, and I hope that as we highlight the sharp differences between Hillary Clinton and [vice presidential nominee] Tim Kaine and Donald Trump and [vice presidential nominee Mike] Pence that the Sanders folks will rally behind the Democratic candidate, as well”. As he demanded Wasserman Schultz’s resignation, Sanders made clear he wants to see Clinton win the White House.
“The stars of the Democratic Party are all on board”, said Patti Solis Doyle, a Clinton 2008 campaign manager.
The convention will give the Democratic Party four days to share its vision with the country.
Trump was generally well received at the convention. Some Republicans opposed to Trump have sought to cast him as pro-Putin.
Instead, Clinton said, she was going to talk about Trump’s failed business ventures, his comments on women, immigrants and the disabled, and his “really inflammatory language” about Muslims.
In return, Clinton seized upon what she called the “fear and the anger and the resentment” from Trump and Republicans, dismissing Trump’s declaration that only he could fix the problems that afflict the nation.
“Donald Trump may think America’s in decline, but he’s wrong”. First lady Michelle Obama and Sanders will headline Monday’s opening night and will be followed later in the week by Bill Clinton, President Obama and Vice President Biden. But they face lingering bitterness among supporters of defeated rival Bernie Sanders and a fresh political mess of the party’s own making.
As Sanders spoke, Wasserman Schultz announced she would not gavel in the convention, recognition that her presence onstage would only showcase Democrats’ deep divisions. “And I’ll move to Canada”.
Officials say the videos and speeches in this year’s convention will demonstrate a consistency of character over her lifetime, including her activism on issues such as child welfare, health care and women’s rights.
While Clinton backers are upbeat, Sanders supporters are less festive. Sanders tried to persuade them they had already won by helping to create what he called the “most progressive Democratic platform in the history of the party”.
It isn’t just that Clinton has poked the Sanders folks in the eye, as a prominent Sanders delegate put it, adding insult to the injury of the leaked DNC memos. They did not succeed in passing an amendment abolishing superdelegates, but they did win a compromise deal with the Clinton camp – a “unity commission” that will review the overall procedures and will seek to limit the role of superdelegates in future elections.
“Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Hillary’s orchestrated collusion cheated thousands of honest Americans, who have invested enormous amounts of money and personal time for real change”, said one of the marchers, Dan Haggerty, 54, an electrician from California.
In an important turning of the tide, Trump’s recent gains come primarily from self-declared independent voters, 46% of whom say they now support Trump, as opposed to only 31% who favored the Republican prior to the Convention.
