Hillary Clinton slams ‘Trump loophole’ in pitch to working-class voters
Clinton, who generally supports pro-trade policies, said the US needs to approach trade deals in a different manner. She has proposed a $275 billion, five-year plan to rebuild infrastructure and proposed a 30 percent minimum tax on individuals with adjusted gross income of over $1 million.

Mrs. Clinton also promised an expansive role for the government in managing the USA economy, calling for higher taxes to fund more infrastructure, more regulations to rein in Wall Street, a new phase of Obamacare, a round of school construction and incentives to get businesses to hire blue-collar workers and do more manufacturing in the U.S. He has charged that “a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote for TPP”.
The Democratic nominee isn’t expected to use her speech to come out with any major new policies.
She says: “There is nothing America can’t do if we do it together”. She also said she will crack down on unfair trade practices by other nations by appointing a “chief trade prosecutor” to go after worldwide offenders.
Hoping to keep the pressure up on Trump, Clinton is also planning to release her 2015 tax returns in the coming days.
“His approach is based on fear, not strength”, Clinton said.
“If I am fortunate enough to be your president, I will have your back every single day”, Clinton said.
Her running mate, Senator Tim Kaine, and his wife will also release the past 10 years of their returns. “Nothing to create new opportunities for young people”.
Clinton’s campaign stepped up efforts to win over Republicans and independents, launching a group that aims to use a wave of almost 50 recent endorsements of Clinton by high-profile Republicans and independents to persuade voters to cross party lines. Now, a CNN tally shows voters prefer Clinton to Trump on that question, 50 to 48.
Hillary Clinton is set to go after Donald Trump’s economic agenda – aiming to portray her rival’s approach as offering handouts for the rich.
“My message to every worker in MI and across America is this”, Clinton said Thursday.
She’s delivering an economic address in MI created to counter Trump’s address earlier this week with a more positive message. When he visited Detroit on Monday he talked only of failure, poverty and crime.
Note: We will be airing special coverage of Hillary Clinton’s economics speech in MI, beginning at 1:06 p.m. EST. Among her goals: passing “the biggest investment in good-paying jobs since World War II” while making college tuition- or debt-free, and reforming the tax code so that the wealthiest Americans pay more.
Trump’s advisers are considering tweaks to his proposal aimed at ensuring that the 15 percent rate “is for legitimate businesses, ” said Stephen Moore, an economist who is advising Trump on tax policy.
She proposed expanding the New Markets Tax Credit, levying a new tax on multimillionaires, simplifying tax filing for small businesses and implementing tax credits to encourage companies to share profits and offer paid apprenticeships.
Clinton contended those policies would boost Trump, who claims an often disputed net worth of $10 billion, more than they would aid working families.
Borrowing a page from her rival, though, Clinton outlined a long list of costly new programs and initiatives without saying how she would fund them or overcome certain GOP opposition.
Clinton reiterated her call for an infrastructure bank, a proposal President Barack Obama advanced only to see it stall for lack of Republican support. She’s promising to improve schools and water systems, expand broadband access and invest in clean energy. Trump routinely points to Clinton’s initial support of the TPP, which she helped to negotiate while she was secretary of state.

The county, which is filled with disaffected Democrats, out-of-work blue collar workers and is less racially diverse than nearby Detroit, should be prime territory for Trump.
