Hillary Clinton takes on Bernie Sanders over guns

Snowfall forecast to start Monday night appeared more likely to hinder the hopefuls in their rush out of Iowa than the voters going to caucus.

Republican primary voters in New Hampshire are less conservative than those in other early states.

Watching the cable news shows, reading the national papers and even following social media, you would think that the 2016 presidential campaign will begin in Iowa and end in New Hampshire. Cruz, a Texas senator, has carefully cultivated his get-out-the-vote effort; Trump’s is a question mark.

As the Iowa caucuses draw near, Democrat Hillary Clinton is highlighting rival Bernie Sanders’ votes against tougher gun restrictions. But Obama’s unexpected 2008 victory was instrumental in his path to the nomination, easing the anxieties of those who anxious the young black senator would struggle to win white voters.

“We are grateful that the Union Leader and NBC have heard the voices of New Hampshire voters who have advocated loud and clear for a final debate since the summer”, the group New Hampshire Debates wrote in a letter to candidates. “Both (former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley) and I have agreed and we’re waiting for the senator to decide to join us”.

It’s a theme Cruz is hoping to ride into New Hampshire and beyond.

“We became close partners and real friends, and I have a high level of commitment to see his accomplishments get recognized”, Clinton said.

On the airwaves, Cruz focused his final offensive on Rubio. Ted Cruz at 23 percent and Florida Sen.

“Either Rubio or Christie, but I’m leaning toward Christie”. The Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa Poll, released Saturday evening, found Clinton holding a narrow lead over Sanders, 45% to 42%. A lot of Republicans don’t like him. No other candidate hits double digits. Meaning, Trump is the most polarizing contender. Apparently young liberals are just as excited about a Clinton presidency as a Sanders one. Trump’s unfavorable rating (47 percent) is surpassed only by that for Bush (53 percent).

They’re part of a Clinton operation that has already finished two January test runs of their caucus-day plans and their get-out-the-vote operation, which will unleash thousands of volunteers departing from more than 150 locations. Marco Rubio at 15 percent.

But some Sanders supporters, not necessarily affiliated with his campaign, are promoting the same strategy on Reddit. Clinton argued that reopening the health care debate would put President Barack Obama’s signature health care law at risk. Sanders said he would pay for these changes by increasing taxes for the wealthiest Americans. Another immigration path is one leading to legal status short of citizenship. “When people like Donald Trump want to divide us up with bigotry and hatred, we are going to being our people together”.

The super PAC is led by former Mitt Romney aide Katie Packer.

“He wasn’t just up there saying ‘I’m for the middle class, ‘ he truly is for the middle class”, said Johnson, who is studying business at Waldorf College. Who’s up might find it safer to take a pass. Sanders has spoken before massive crowds – one rally in Portland, Oregon, last summer filled an arena with 19,000 people while another 9,000 waited outside.

Cruz brushed off the fuss. He remained an independent, but caucuses with Democrats and serves as ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee. The party organized a skimpy debate schedule and favored off-hours for TV viewers, by all appearances a move to shelter Clinton.

Her hyper-organized campaign manager Robby Mook dispatched 30 paid staffers to Iowa last spring while Sanders was still little more than a protest candidate.

“Hillary Clinton will be the problem”, Sanders said.

“Now they refuse to take yes for an answer, apparently because they are intent on avoiding a debate in New Hampshire”.
