Hillary Clinton tempers Sanders critique in New Hampshire
Vermont senator Bernie Sanders’ popularity has surged ahead of Democratic favourite Hillary Clinton, while outspoken real estate tycoon Donald Trump has consolidated his lead over nearest Republican rivals in Iowa, where the first vote for the presidential primary polls would be cast in just over a week from now. The Republican National Committee jumped to the self-identified democratic socialist candidate’s defense during the last debate and American Crossroads, a super PAC founded by Karl Rove, has an ad in Iowa highlighting Clinton’s ties to Wall Street.

By putting Sullivan in front of the camera-and on a conference call with reporters Thursday afternoon to discuss the video-the campaign frees Clinton from mounting this attack herself and coming across as excessively critical of her popular opponent.
“Her diehard supporters are feeling confident, but inside the campaign there is concern as much that she could lose to Sanders in Iowa and/or New Hampshire as what a long protracted, costly battle with Sanders could mean throughout the spring”.
“At a time when secretary Clinton’s lead is evaporating in Iowa, we understand why her campaign is panicking and saying absurd things”, said Mr Sanders’s campaign spokesman, Michael Briggs. Sanders polls higher among women and Millennials, who were previously thought a solid voting block for Clinton.
Recently at the Salem, N.H., field office for the Sanders campaign, volunteers busily worked the phones, contacting registered Democrats and asking whom they intend to support in next month’s primary. Clinton’s team will hope an impressive performance days before the Iowa vote will boost her poll numbers enough to overcome Sanders’ momentum.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton meets an attendee Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at a NARAL Pro-Choice dinner in Concord, N.H.
Emily’s List communications director Marcy Stech wrote that Sanders’ “attacks on Planned Parenthood are rooted in the same exact type of political calculation Republicans make when advancing their extreme agenda”.
One of the strangest aspects of this exceedingly odd election is just how bad both of the candidates who believe they’re owed the job – Hillary and Jeb – are at this.
Clinton also stated, “I know we’re in a hard fight here and I know we’re running against one of your neighbors. I don’t think the outcome will be substantially different”. The latest bombshell this week revealed that Clinton didn’t only deal with classified information on her private server – she dealt with “the most sensitive of the sensitive” – material even top lawmakers are forbidden from reading.
“If I win, by the way, that will mean that there’s a very large voter turnout”.
We’ve got a little lead [emphasis added] that I think is solidifying and maybe growing a little bit.

Also conspicuously absent: The stinging tone of her critiques which accused Sanders of espousing a string of unachievable goals in foreign policy and health care.
