Hillary Clinton: Terrorism Threat Is ‘Real’ But Calls for Resolve
“Even if you are totally opposed to Donald Trump, you may still have some questions about me”. His Democratic rival Hillary Clinton is also maneuvering in the wake of the attacks, portraying herself as the kind of steely and calm commander-in-chief Americans traditionally turn to in times of crisis. Or are we going to be, as I know we can, stronger together?

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence is rejecting Hillary Clinton’s assertion that Donald Trump and other GOP leaders are encouraging terrorists by asserting the U.S.is at war with Islam. Last month the NY mogul proposed an immigration plan that included stopping all refugee admissions from Syria, and imposing an “ideological certification” test for all immigrants seeking to enter the country. U.S. society is uncomfortable with powerful women and that is why the United States has not yet elected a woman president, President Barack Obama said yesterday. “We have to be very tough”.
Both candidates moved swiftly to capitalize on investigations into a weekend of violent attacks – bombings in NY and New Jersey and stabbings at a Minnesota mall – casting themselves as most qualified to combat terrorism at home and overseas.
Though Trump’s plans might not have prevented Rahami from visiting South Asia, where thousands of law abiding USA citizens travel every month, Rahami’s travels will play into the febrile political atmosphere that Trump is trying to tap into following the attacks. We know from independent analysis by counterterrorism experts with years of experience that ISIS supporters want him to win and that his rhetoric has been used for recruitment.
The contrast between Obama and Clinton on one hand and Trump on the other couldn’t be more stark.
Voters also appear conflicted on the how national security will factor into the election. The Republican has said he would bar immigration from nations with ties to terrorism.
Trump’s potential temperamental vulnerability came into focus during his Florida rally, when he bemoaned the medical treatment offered to Rahami after he was injured in a shootout with police.
Clinton moved to take control of the debate with a cutting attack on Trump on Monday: At a morning news conference inside an airport hangar in rainy White Plains, N.Y., she urged Americans to show “courage and vigilance”, and not to demonize Muslims or Americans of foreign origin.
“Welcome to America”, Cuomo told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
In practical terms, there are stark differences between what the candidates would do about terrorism Clinton’s plan (which you can read here) is essentially to continue what we’re doing now. That is our system and it’s what makes this country special. “If Clinton really wants to find the real cause of ISIS, she needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror”, alleged Jason Miller, senior communication advisor to the Trump campaign. “I have sat at that table in the Situation Room”. “In large part, that’s because of the inspiring young people I meet every day”, she said.
While Trump responded to the fears of Americans, Clinton issued a call to their intellect.

“We should also launch an intelligence surge to help identify and thwart attacks before they can be carried out”.
