Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine debut as Democratic ticket in Florida
“I am boring”, the man Hillary Clinton picked on Friday night to be her running mate said last month on NBC’s “Meet The Press”.

Trump’s choice of running mate, a conservative evangelical Christian and former congressman, could serve to reassure voters alarmed by his rhetoric.
So why would Clinton pick “boring” to be her vice president?
Clinton’s slogan Saturday was “Stronger Together” – a line that coincidentally matches one recently deployed by the Miami Dolphins.
CLEVELAND – As Republicans continue to work through the process of uniting around their presidential nominee Donald Trump, Tennessee’s delegates at the Republican National Convention have already united around their disdain for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Kaine also told Vox that fear of “terrorists” was probably why Americans were reluctant to accept more refugees.
Ms. Clinton made the announcement via Twitter and a text message to supporters.
Clinton compared Trump with the kind of historical figures who declare themselves the only solution: “Despots, dictators, authoritarians who have promised ‘I can fix it alone.’ I reject that”.
According to the New York Times, Kaine is also the first Senator to deliver an entire speech in Spanish on the floor of Congress. Elizabeth Warren, the outspoken, anti-Wall Street firebrand, Clinton settled on Kaine in a signal her campaign intends to make a serious play for independent and even moderate Republican voters.
Kaine and Vilsack each had friends and allies lobbying the Clinton campaign on their behalf. “Raise your hand if you have become a naturalized citizen”, Kaine said.
“While Mike Pence slashed education funding in IN, and gave more tax cuts to the wealthiest, Tim Kaine cut his own salary and invested in education from pre-K through college and beyond”.
“As I have said, the most important qualification when you are trying to make this really big choice is, ‘can this person step up to be president?’ Well, at every stage of Tim’s career, the people that know him best have voted to give him a promotion”, Clinton said.
Ahead of its start Monday, some Bernie Sanders supporters there expressed reservations about Kaine’s record and worry that he’s not progressive enough.
The Virginia senator had reportedly been Clinton’s top pick going down the stretch, and he’s always been viewed as the “safe” pick for Hillary: he’s a relatively moderate middle-aged white guy from a swing state and he speaks Spanish.
She will introduce her new partner at a campaign rally Saturday in Miami, a recognition of Florida’s pivotal importance in the fall. The state twice voted for Obama after a generation of solidly voting for Republicans in presidential elections. “Ted, stay home”, Trump said, dismissing any interest in an endorsement the Texas senator refuses to provide.
Trump boasted of his TV ratings, his primary victories and other achievements, including winning over his wife, Melania, in a stream-of-consciousness delivery with Pence, standing quietly nearby.
“I don’t do anything unless I win”, Trump insisted. He promised to work “so hard” as the nominee and vowed his campaign was “not going to disappear”, even though he has no plans to campaign this weekend.
Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine debuted as a presidential ticket in the crucial battleground state of Florida as they head toward next week’s Democratic Party convention.
In general, I don’t think the evidence suggests that vice presidential candidates routinely swing elections; Kaine’s impact on the race is likely to be marginal. Between college and law school, he went on a year-long mission trip to Honduras.
At Harvard, he met Anne Holton, the daughter of former Virginia Gov. Linwood Holton, a Republican. The couple have three children Nat, Woody and Annella. Based on this, Clinton may feel that she has sufficiently covered her progressive bases. Sherrod Brown were at 95 percent and Massachusetts Sen. While Clinton also considered other potential running mates, including Labor Secretary Tom Perez, New Jersey Sen.
In 2013, when many US senators declared their newfound support for same-sex marriage, Kaine joined them in declaring his support for marriage equality.
Hillary Clinton announced Friday that Sen.
Then, riffing with the crowd, he added: “You’re right, he doesn’t trash-talk everybody – he likes Vladimir Putin”.

Kaine’s affable, regular-guy presence may also help balance the perception of Clinton as remote, chilly and privileged.
