Clinton is due to be formally nominated as presidential candidate at the upcoming Democratic convention in Philadelphia. Bernie Sanders had mixed feelings.

Tick Segerblom had backed Bernie Sanders but was enthusiastic about the news announced via text message on Friday.

“Got to have a fallback in my line of work”, Kaine retorted. He showcased his Spanish skills Saturday at a rally with Clinton in Florida.

The Democratic National Convention will have all of the usual hoopla and pageantry of such events. The group conducted a survey of some delegates 10 days ago, in which some 88.1 percent said Kaine would be a “not acceptable” choice.

And in an appearance Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper, Sanders noted that, whatever their differences, Kaine was in his view far preferable to the alternative.

A former mayor as well governor, Kaine is an experienced politician and has been thoroughly vetted.

“I think he’s behaved in a very bullying manner”, says Clinton. Trump said on twitter as he posted a series of tweets wherein he described Kaine as a job killer.

“There was something in the story yesterday that was different”, he said to the audience in Cassell Coliseum, “and it was you, your spirit of even in a dark day, of optimism and community and hope”.

And in a recent C-SPAN interview he said: “I do what I do for spiritual reasons”.

“I am going to do everything I can to defeat him, to elect Hillary Clinton, and to keep focusing, keep focusing, on the real issues facing the American people”. Elizabeth Warren for her running mate instead of Virginia Sen. “Bernie fought for nothing!” Clinton has chosen Kaine to be her running mate.

Indeed, last week’s Republican National Convention at times seemed to focus more on vilifying Clinton than celebrating its nominee, Donald Trump.

“What he said was very relatable, he was very emotional”, said Patricia Mellerson. “In my opinion they were rigged, especially in NY”.

“They look to pick people who can help them govern and play a meaningful role”. Kaine’s former Senate press secretary, Sarah Peck, is already working as Clinton’s Virginia campaign spokeswoman. “It proves our point that they’ve tried to marginalize him and make it as hard as possible”. He later told reporters outside the church: “We needed some prayers today and we got some prayers, and we got some support and it really feels good”.
