Hillary Clinton to formally accept Democratic nomination
Hillary Clinton used her speech to the Democratic National Convention to criticise rival presidential candidate Donald Trump’s economic record, lack of “plans” and unreliability in crisis situations. “When my father says that he will make America great again – he will deliver”.

Hillary Clinton beamed with emotion as she took the convention stage to become the first woman ever to accept a major US party’s presidential nomination. The veteran who is in a tight race with Republican U.S. Senator Mark Kirk told a packed house, “Donald Trump, I didn’t put my life on the line to defend our democracy so you could invite Russian Federation to interfere in it”.
It was a speech aimed at both defending his legacy and “passing the baton” to Clinton, while unifying Democrats by acknowledging liberal followers of Sen. “There has never been anyone more qualified [to be president]”, he said of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
“And so it is with humility, determination, and boundless confidence in America’s promise that I accept your nomination for President of the United States”, she said.
Much of Clinton’s address to Democrats gathered in Philadelphia for their party’s convention was focused on perhaps her biggest weakness come November – a tough public image forged over decades of withering political trench warfare. Our power-our power comes from those immortal declarations first put to paper right here in Philadelphia all those years ago: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that We the People can form a more flawless union”.
“With her as our Commander in Chief, America will continue to lead this volatile world. we will defeat evil”, he says.
Watch Clinton try and persuade her nation that she should be elected US President.
“I did not hear any kind of contrition or acknowledgment of the questions about her email server”, Kondik told VOA. Obama quoting President Theodore Roosevelt and calling Clinton “that woman in the arena” came in third. She only stands together with the donors and special interests who’ve bankrolled her entire life.
JUDY WOODRUFF: So, Joel Benenson, are you describing an effort to be just about as negative toward Donald Trump as the Republicans are toward Hillary Clinton?
Data compiled by ratings agency Nielsen show the Democratic event in Philadelphia handily outperforming the Republican convention in Cleveland.
Clinton was not accepting the Democratic nomination at this convention, as she had hoped to do.
“Whether I am meant to or not, I challenge assumptions about women”, Clinton once said in 2009. “I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place”.
DW’s Richard Walker had noticed earlier there were plenty of Bernie Sanders supporters in the room, eager to make a statement.
But she says she had to acknowledge “the sad truth: There is no other Donald Trump”.
She hailed the significance of her nomination for women, saying it was a milestone.
“He will fight for equal pay for equal work, and I will fight for this too, right alongside of him”, Ivanka Trump said from that podium last Thursday.
Her daughter, Chelsea, will introduce her at the convention.

What she did not do was explicitly acknowledge the issues that have contributed most recently to negative impressions of her, especially her decision to conduct business on a personal email account instead of the State Department’s.
