In the furor, party chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Shultz resigned just as Democrats were launching their convention.

Arizona Democratic Party page, Joseline Mata, cries during Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech on the final night of the Democratic National Convention.

When Trump addressed the Republican convention in Cleveland, “He spoke for 70 odd minutes, and I do mean odd”, Clinton said. Few reacted to the substance in Clinton’s speech.

“It was awesome”, Mata said.

“Together, we will lead our party back to the White House, and we will lead our country back to safety, prosperity, and peace”, Trump said. “And it just, still in shock”.

Clinton took the stage and continued the theme of bashing Trump and promoting her “Stronger Together” slogan.

Clinton also believes that “simply caring is not enough to drive real progress, you have to change both hearts and laws”.

Hillary Clinton today portrayed her Republican rival Donald Trump as a volatile and short-tempered man who can not be trusted with nuclear weapons as she scripted history by becoming the first women presidential nominee of a major political party in the US.

She also offered an olive branch to those who backed her rival Bernie Sanders, telling the convention their voice had been heard.

Clinton spoke of the strains that have been placed on U.S. society during the toxic year-long campaign featuring heated rhetoric from Trump and other candidates.

He personally responded to Clinton’s speech in several tweets Friday.

Presidential nominees can often expect an immediate rise in the polls, called a post-convention bounce, when the acceptance speeches, balloons, and parade of personalities are still fresh in voters’ minds.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign rally, Thursday, July 28, 2016, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. “Thank you all for the great convention that we’ve had”.

Clinton’s campaign manager and spokesman have said Kaine supports Clinton’s commitment to repeal the Hyde amendment earlier this week. “Tonight, I believe we will hear an actual plan for the betterment of our people and our country”.

Trumps daughter Ivanka stepped out as a potent surrogate, trying to help his awful approval among female voters by promising he would be a compassionate leader who would fight for women’s rights and affordable childcare.

“I’m hoping we’ll be more transparent”, said Jeri Shepherd, a Colorado DNC member.

“A president should respect the men and women who risk their lives to serve our country”, she said, adding that Trump can not even handle the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign. According to her, all of those years doing public service, the “service” part comes easier for her than the “public” part. “Let me ask you, have you even read the United States Constitution?”

Hillary Clinton also reached out to disappointed Bernie Sanders supporters during her speech, after her contentious primary race against the Vermont senator.

“Comprehensive immigration reform will grow our economy and keep families together – and it’s the right thing to do”, Clinton said. “Or when he mocks and mimics a reporter with a disability”, she said.

“It’s true”, she said.

The crowd was largely receptive of Clinton’s speech, as chants of “Hillary!” and “USA!” filled the arena at times during the speech that Arizona delegates described as “history-making”.
