Hillary Clinton tweets at Donald Trump: Let’s do this

Chris Christie was one of the few speakers to energize the crowd, delivering a full-throated takedown of Clinton and imploring delegates to shout “Guilty!” as he ticked through numerous accusations of wrongdoing. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who has been a lukewarm supporter of Trump, was greeted with a smattering of boos as he took the stage. His half-sister Tiffany offered a more tender view of her father.

In the highlight of the night, Christie turned Quicken Loans Arena into a courtroom as he branded Hillary Clinton a liar who coddled tyrants, terrorists and American enemies.

Clinton’s answer was terse: “No”, she said, breaking out into a smile.

“No”, Clinton said in the clip without hesitation, laughing off the question. “The facts of her life and career disqualify her”.

The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

At the 5:30 p.m. session, a roll call vote for Trump is planned. He said Trump was not ready to do that yet.

Trump’s campaign failed to quell the controversy on Day 2 of the convention by insisting there was no evidence of plagiarism, while offering no explanation for how the strikingly similar passages wound up in Mrs. Trump’s address. There was little opposition on the floor as delegates cast votes for Trump state by state.

“Congratulations, Dad, we love you”, declared Donald Trump Jr.

The focus of the night was supposed to be on the economy, but it was Clinton who was in the spotlight. “We won’t allow Donald Trump to prey on hard-working Americans by giving him the keys to the White House”, she said. He called Kasich “petulant” and “embarrassing” for not endorsing Trump or attending the convention, drawing quick condemnation from other GOP leaders anxious about angering the popular governor of one of the most important election states. He said, unlike the GOP, Democrats have settled on a exhausted nominee for 2016.

“They don’t understand why justice wasn’t done”, he said. “A Hillary Clinton Supreme Court means your right to own a firearm is gone”, Cox told delegates.

“It’s called burrowing”, Christie said.

“For my father, impossible is just the starting point”, said Donald Trump Jr., the oldest of the Republican nominee’s five children.

Trump’s campaign hoped the formal nomination would both end the discord surging through the Republican Party and overshadow the convention’s chaotic kickoff, including a plagiarism charge involving Melania Trump’s address on opening night. “This is a movement, but we have to go all the way”.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s name wasn’t formally placed in nomination even though he was closest to Trump in the primaries.

The chant, which delegates began on the first night of the convention Monday, was revived again Tuesday when New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie began a speech by making a case against Clinton. The campaign, however, signaled that no one would be fired or disciplined over the episode.

Top Trump adviser Paul Manafort said the matter had been “totally blown out of proportion”. “Some of the mistakes that are made are made by the Trump campaign”.

Clinton pounced on the tumult, saying the Republican gathering had so far been “surreal”, comparing it to the classic fantasy film “Wizard of Oz”.

“Does he intimidate you, Donald Trump?” host Fallon asked Clinton during her appearance.

Steinmeier told Reuters in a written interview that he was concerned about what he called Trump’s ambiguous vows to “make America strong again”, while simultaneously reducing its engagement overseas. The businessman has survived numerous politically perilous moments that might have doomed other candidates.
