The Hillary Clinton campaign has a statement out tonight calling for an independent review over potential wrongdoing by the Bernie Sanders campaign over a breach of voter data.

Trump dominates latest GOP debate – on social media
Ted Cruz publicized classified information about government phone tracking during the CNN Republican presidential debate. We’ve got to search all sorts of media outlets to see if anybody had reported that number independently”.

“And while they told us that they didn’t save anything, we have been told that they did in fact store the data”, said Mook, referring to an audit report provided by the NGP VAN. However, the Sanders team says it doesn’t have any of Clinton’s data and blamed the software vendor for the breach.

On the eve of the party’s next presidential debate, it also thrust into the open longstanding suspicions among Sanders and his supporters that the party’s headquarters is unfairly working to support Clinton’s candidacy.

The DNC had blocked access to the voter data after a Sanders campaign staffer improperly accessed Clinton’s voter files, prompting charges of theft from the Clinton campaign and setting off a bitter political fight in what had been a relatively peaceful Democratic nominating race.

“We are announcing today that if the DNC continues to hold our data hostage, and continues to try to attack the heart and soul of our campaign, we will be in federal court this afternoon seeking an immediate injunction”.

“Clearly, in this case, they are trying to help the Clinton campaign”, said Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver. In response, the DNC revoked the Sanders camp’s access to the database until an investigation is conducted. Sophisticated campaigns spend millions gathering such information, including how likely individual voters are to cast ballots in primary elections as well as which candidate they now favor.

NGP VAN said the Sanders staff involved were able to “search by and view (but not export or save or act on) some attributes that came from another campaign”.

“The Sanders campaign doesn’t have anything other than bluster at the moment that they can put out there”, she said.

“Our team removed access to the affected data and determined that only one campaign took actions that could possibly have led to it retaining data to which it should not have had access”, he said.

“This week, due to a fault in their own technology platforms, the DNC took unprecedented steps to take away our access to data accumulated through tens of thousands of voter contacts made by our volunteers – supporters like you who power our political revolution”.

But a DNC statement told a different side of the story, saying that the committee restored access only after the Sanders campaign provided more information to them about the breach. He added, “It is our information, not the DNC’s”. “By their action, the leadership of the Democratic National Committee is now actively attempting to undermine our campaign”. The files were saved to personal folders, the documents showed.

According to the DNC, the suspension will remain in effect until the Sanders campaign provides a full explanation of what happened. Firewalls are supposed to prevent campaigns from viewing data gathered by their rivals. In Iowa and New Hampshire, the Clinton campaign has ranked voters on a scale of 1-100 for turnout, enthusiasm and support, the senior Democrats said.

“After discussion with the DNC, it became clear that one of our staffers accessed some modeling data from another campaign”.
