Hillary Clinton wages costly fight with Bernie Sanders

The Vermont senator, whose groundswell of support has kept him in the race for the nomination despite opponent Hillary Clinton’s large lead in pledged delegates, is scheduled to speak at the San Diego Convention Center at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Despite her lead in the race for the delegates needed to secure the nomination and the donors urging her campaign to shift her focus to the general election, Mrs. Clinton has continued to focus on raising money for the primary.

Former President Bill Clinton will be in Washington state Monday to campaign for his wife, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“If he has a bit of time to sort of set up his campaign, spend a lot of time working a state, he’s usually shown an ability to do better”, says Skelley.

Heading into the home stretch of the 2016 presidential nominating contest, Bernie Sanders’ campaign is painfully short of delegates. The nominee will face the Republicans’ pick in November. He remained steadfast in this opinion this weekend and argued instead that “good debates” and “vigorous discussion” creates interest in politics and high voter participation.

“This political revolution that is gaining momentum across America is now resonating all over the world”, Sanders said.

Many of Sanders’ supporters said his ideological consistency had won their backing, noted he made numerous same arguments in the 1990s he’s making today.

Washington is reliably Democratic when it comes to presidential elections. But Clinton’s victory in Missouri was far from overwhelming.

Democratic rules that require states to award delegates proportionally make it extremely unlikely that Sanders could take the nomination away from Clinton.

The group will send 13 delegates and eight super-delegates this year to the Democratic National Convention, which is more than the state of Wyoming’s total of 18. But there’s a more fundamental reason for Bernie’s not pulling the plug. Arizona has a closed primary; voters who weren’t registered Democrats as of four weeks ago can’t vote Tuesday.

“The Democratic Party is democratic in name only – superdelegates anyone?” the Lexington resident tweeted shortly after, adding, “We don’t think it’s delusional to offer Americans authentic choices free from corporate influence”.
