Hillary Clinton wins Florida Democratic primary, OH as well
Preliminary results include interviews with 663 to 1,710 Democratic primary voters and 718 to 2,255 Republican primary voters in each state.

– Hillary Clinton defeated Bernie Sanders by more than 30 points in Florida’s Democratic presidential primary Tuesday, in addition to picking up victories in OH and North Carolina.
“Boy I’ll tell you, this is another Super Tuesday for our campaign!” He canceled one in Chicago amid security fears; he said he would look into paying the legal fees of a supporter who is charged with sucker-punching a protestor in North Carolina; he called for protesters who demonstrate at his rallies to be arrested. He needs time, and enough victories, to prove his worth and then rely on a deadlocked convention to choose him to prevent Trump from becoming the nominee. The governor spent Monday campaigning in his home state alongside Mitt Romney, the 2012 Republican nominee and a fierce critic of Trump.
A confident Clinton pivoted quickly to November during her victory rally, assailing Trump’s hardline immigration positions and support for torture. His campaign has even sketched out a scenario under which he would end up with more delegates than Trump heading into the convention. “Tomorrow, when all of us do our part, and everyone has a chance to live up to his or her God-given potential”, Clinton said at her rally in West Palm Beach, Fla. He’ll hold another election-night news conference – guaranteeing wall-to-wall coverage – where he could try to drive his foes out of the race.
With 214 pledged delegates at stake, Florida was the night’s biggest prize, while OH had 143 pledged delegates up for grabs.
Neither has left much doubt: It’s win or stay home.
In Florida, his closest competitor was Rubio, for whom a loss in his home state is likely to signal his exit from the race.
So far, Rubio has wins in Minnesota, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia to show for himself.
This was the first victory for Kasich, whose upbeat message and long record of government service has had little resonance as his rivals seized on voter’s anxiety and disdain for Washington.
Ahead of the MI primary, Clinton attacked Sanders for a vote against a 2009 automotive industry bailout, drawing fire from a visibly irritated Sanders, who said he supported the legislation until it became a Wall Street “bailout”.
Backers have been patient with the 44-year-old Florida senator, buoyed by the political talent he has flashed – especially on the debate stage. Bernie Sanders of Vermont last week.
Clinton had been expected to win the South, but the bigger battleground was in the Midwest. March 15 was supposed to be the day he was knocked out once and for all.
Democrats said they would be satisfied if either Sanders or Clinton won their party’s nomination.
Campaigning Tuesday in North Carolina, Clinton said “the numbers are adding up in my favor”.
While Trump has consistently spent less than his primary opponents on television advertising – relying instead on non-stop media coverage – he was the second-biggest spender among the GOP candidates in Tuesday’s primary states. She also won in Florida after having a massive lead over her sole rival Senator Bernie Sanders.
“I just want somebody in there who’s actually going to do what they say they’re going to do”, said Katherine Dunivent, a 28-year-old African-American who voted for Clinton in Canton. Overall, Clinton held 1,235 of total delegates, more than half the amount needed to clinch the nomination when the count includes superdelegates, who are elected officials and party leaders free to support the candidate of their choice.
Clinton also made a last-minute stop in Raleigh on Tuesday, in addition to a campaign stop in Durham last week.
Illinois, Missouri and North Carolina were also voting Tuesday. Cruz has been urging Rubio and Kasich to step aside and let him get into a one-on-one race.
“It will be absolutely clear to everyone that this is a two-man race”, Cruz said told reporters Monday in Peoria, Illinois. I think he’s dishonest.
Establishment Republicans may never like Cruz. And in Missouri, about half of them supported Texas Sen.
Cruz’s argument is about electability.
