Hillary Clinton wins historic US presidential nomination
Dubbed the “secretary of explaining stuff” for his well-received speech endorsing President Barack Obama in 2012, Clinton will face a much different environment when he steps into an arena in Philadelphia where supporters of Bernie Sanders have booed and chanted against Hillary Clinton.

“As a Democrat, we all need to unite because we can not let Donald Trump become president”, said Susan DeMetrick, a delegate representing the 5th Congressional district in Pennsylvania.
2000: Four years later, Clinton bids farewell, thanks the party for allowing him to serve two terms as president, and remarks that Democratic nominee Al Gore is fit to run.
The roll call vote was conducted on Tuesday night USA time (Wednesday morning Singapore time), the second day of the convention at the Wells Fargo Centre, with Mr Sanders’ supporters making a final show of support for their chosen candidate.
The stories were being told by a long list of politicians, celebrities and advocates.
They included a series of mothers who have lost their children to gun violence or in police custody and are now fighting for reforms. He told the convention audience that Hillary Clinton has spent her life fighting to improve people’s lives.
By night’s end, the Clinton campaign hopes to have moved past the dissent that somewhat tarnished the convention’s opening day.
Mrs. Clinton’s landmark achievement saturated the roll call with emotion and symbols of women’s long struggle to break through political barriers.
Sanders supporters say they intend to go on protesting Tuesday. Earlier, several hundred gathered at Philadelphia’s City Hall under a blazing sun chanting “Bernie or bust”.
Some Sanders’ delegates said they could not support Hillary Clinton.
“It’s easy to boo”, Sanders said. Carter, a Dallas resident, said he doesn’t fear a Donald Trump presidency: “I’ve lived under nine white presidents in my lifetime”.
Trump cheered the disruptions from the campaign trail.
The combustible nature of the convention was still on display Tuesday. She’s supposed to become the Democratic Party’s official nominee, but Sanders delegate Werner Lange, of OH, said he and other Sanders supporters will not remain quiet on the convention floor. Chuck Schumer and actresses Meryl Streep, America Ferrera and Lena Dunham.
President Clinton spoke after three hours of testimonials from lawmakers, advocates, celebrities and citizens who argued otherwise.
Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine joins the ticket as Clinton’s vice presidential nominee.
This year, the Clinton campaign and the candidate herself appeared determined to apply the lessons from her defeat eight years ago to her second White House bid, running a notably different campaign.
Bill Clinton has the spotlight Tuesday night. He’s had flashes of frustration this year, particularly when his own record on trade and law enforcement has been challenged by the party he once led, but has largely stuck to the campaign’s messages. I have no interest in serving in a Clinton cabinet.

Even through Mrs. Clinton had already passed the 2,383 votes needed to secure the nomination, Mr. Sanders, in a sign of unity, made the motion to nominate Mrs. Clinton by acclimation. Instead, Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski and Georgia Rep. John Lewis, two lawmakers whom Clinton has said she admires, and Na’ilah Amaru, a campaign contest victor, officially entered Clinton’s name into nomination.
