Hillary Clinton Wins Louisiana Democratic Primary

Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton has agreed to join rival Bernie Sanders on Monday for a forum hosted by the Fox News Channel on the eve of the MI primary, the network said Friday.

Republican hopefuls, particularly Ted Cruz, are looking to put the brakes on Donald Trump’s momentum in Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Maine.

The Associated Press reports that heading into Saturday’s round of voting, Clinton had 1,066 delegates to Sanders’ 432, including superdelegates – members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.

Asserting that the former Secretary of State is the only candidate in this race with a comprehensive agenda to create jobs, the Clinton campaign said Sanders should tell voters how he will create manufacturing jobs and grow the economy. “Clinton’s lead in delegates exceeds President Obama’s highest margin during the 2008 primary and is a significant step in the fight for the Democratic nomination”, the memo said.

Ted Cruz pulled off two striking Super Saturday victories to bolster his case that he is the only viable Republican alternative to Donald Trump while Democrat Bernie Sanders also scored a pair of morale-boosting wins.

Trump, meanwhile, has a 19-point lead for the state’s 47 GOP delegates.

Cruz led in very early results in ME; results in the other states were expected later in the night. Reports from dozens of county locations indicate that Republican turnout was often four or five times that of 2012 and growing, said state party chair Kelly Arnold.

“If the big, fat GOP don’t like him, they don’t like me”, Belton said, adding that if he isn’t the nominee she is going to write his name in on the ballot.

Sanders is making a play for MI and outspent Clinton on TV ads in the Great Lakes State, according to the Detroit News.

Sanders still trails in the total delegate count by a 1,114 – 469 tally.

Rubio, going all-out for victory in Florida on March 15, predicted he would take the state.

Bill Clinton said too many people have been left behind economically.

Trump leads the Republican race nationally, but in Kansas, most of the party establishment was wary of the billionaire businessman and were instead split between Cruz and Rubio.

It’s an odd moment in the 2016 campaign: Not even half the states have voted for the party nominees and no candidate has half the delegates needed to win, yet the sense is spreading that it’s practically game over. Kansas and ME hold caucuses, a format which has sometimes been a challenge for Trump. Compared to 2008, 2.6 million fewer Democrats voted in the first 15 primaries and caucuses.

Voters in both parties go to the polls Tuesday in MI, with 147 Democratic delegates and 59 GOP, and MS, with 36 Democratic delegates and 40 GOP.

Trump staged a late rally in New Orleans followed Saturday morning by one set for Wichita, Kansas.

Malarie Hancock, a 27-year-old stay at home mom who caucused in Topeka, said she supported Cruz because her main concern was abortion and “the right for unborn children to live”. “There is nothing so exciting as this stuff”, Trump said during his speech Saturday.

With roughly 20 percent of the vote yet to be counted, the Nebraska Democratic Caucus has been called for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Both Clinton and Sanders have visited the city to shed light on infrastructure issues. In that state, Sanders will pick up at least 14 and Clinton will receive at least 10.
