Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., a Clinton supporter, said the immigration discussion among the Republican candidates has helped Clinton with Hispanic voters. The same day in Little Rock, she appeared more than 30 minutes after the crowd in a sweltering gym expected her. “And as I have said, we have got to get the political will to do everything we can to keep people safe”, Clinton told Merica. The news outlet also reports that Latino celebs, elected officials and community leaders will begin announcing their public support of the former Secretary of State.

“She needs to be out there more doing that, connecting more with larger audiences. We need energy in the Democratic campaign because so much attention is being paid” to the Republican candidates, said Rich, now a candidate for Broward County Commission.

Kiar, who’s knocked on almost 6,000 doors as he campaigns for Broward property appraiser, said Democratic voters constantly bring up the presidential contest.

“The Republicans should take a hard look at what they are about when you have a guy in line to be the Speaker saying something like that, ‘ Clinton said”.

In the back of the gym, another student, Nichole Zapata, was rethinking her decision to bring her grandmother to see Clinton speak. She is holding fundraisers in North Palm Beach, Miami Beach, and at the home of Mitchell Berger, a Fort Lauderdale lawyer and prominent national Democratic fundraiser.

On Thursday, the campaign launched “Latinos for Hillary“, a series of events that will kick off during Hispanic Heritage Month.

“A lot of politicians have tried to go up against the (National Rifle Association) and have all failed”, Wu said. During her speech she spoke of how her husband Bill Clinton was able to ban assault weapons and institute more background checks through the Brady Bill. Ingoglia sees that as unethical and believes it may have jeopardized national security.

Clinton, however, while still the front-runner in the Democratic race, has seen Sanders, a self-described Socialist, siphon away support from progressives within the party.
