Hillary: Half of Trump Supporters Are in ‘Basket of Deplorables’
At a fundraiser Friday, Hillary Clinton threw down, calling “half” of Trump supporters “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it”. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people – now how (many) 11 million. “He tweets and retweets offensive, hateful, mean-spirited rhetoric”.

And Trump himself tweeted: “Wow, Hillary Clinton was SO INSULTING to my supporters, millions of awesome, hard working people”. Democrats defended Clinton: some said her math was accurate; others said she exaggerated to make an important point; still others said the flap was overblown.
But some Twitter users said they agreed with Clinton, making reference to remarks by Trump that have been called racist, such as when he called some Mexican immigrants drug dealers and rapists. “I regret saying “half” – that was wrong”, she said in the statement.
Trump said the recent harassment of a U.S. Navy ships by Iranian patrol bots in the central Arabian Gulf wouldn’t happen on his watch. “They say I have the most loyal people. where I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters, OK?”
“Hillary Clinton’s low opinion of the people that support this campaign should be denounced in the strongest possible terms”.
In her statement, Mrs Clinton said of Mr Trump: “it’s deplorable that he’s attacked a federal judge for his “Mexican heritage”, bullied a Gold Star family due to their Muslim faith, and promoted the lie that our first black president is not a true American”.
“Last night I was “grossly generalistic, ‘ and that’s never a good idea. So just eliminate them from your thinking, because we’ve always had an annoying prejudicial element within our politics”.
“They don’t buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different”, Clinton said.
In a statement Saturday, Clinton said that, “many of Trump’s supporters are hard-working Americans who just don’t feel like the economy or our political system are working for them”. They are just desperate for change. “Doesn’t really even matter where it comes from”. But reporters travelling with her campaign were not allowed in and did not see her. “Those are people who we have to understand and empathize with as well”.
Trump’s campaign hammered on Clinton throughout the day.
While Mrs Clinton is taking heat for her comment, Mr Trump’s brand is controversy.
“The question is whether Trump can show a discipline thus far unseen”. “Right?” Clinton said at the event. “His disregard for the values that make our country great is profoundly risky”.
Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill noted a previous speech in which she accused NY businessman Trump of embracing a brand of USA political conservatism associated with white nationalism and nativism known as the “alt right” movement.
“Obviously not everyone supporting Trump is part of the alt right, but alt right leaders are with Trump”, he said on Twitter.
And Bakari Sellers, a Clinton surrogate and CNN contributor, was defiant when asked about the remark. Tim Kaine of Virginia, said in an interview on Saturday.
But Democratic strategist Jim Manley, who supports Clinton, pointed out that Romney was talking about all voters, and Clinton was specifically describing Trump supporters. “If you’re not a bigot, her comments shouldn’t offend you”.
He later acknowledged that the comment was “boneheaded”. Nobody cares about them.
Clinton’s comments, in contrast, are clearly about people who were already voting for her opponent. But she still was generalizing a large segment of the American people.

“Hillary Clinton should be ashamed of herself, and this proves beyond a doubt that she is unfit and incapable to serve as President of the United States”, he added. A tisket, a tasket, Hillary’s in a basket.
