Social media users swiftly responded, condemning Mr Trump for appearing to incite violence.
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment”, said Trump.
“Because when you’re running for president and you become the nominee, that’s kind of expected”, Clinton said.
The former manufacturing powerhouse has been hard hit by the decline of the automobile industry and the real estate market.
Meanwhile, Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, called Trump’s Second Amendment comment “horrifying” in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
