Hillary most qualified to be president: Obama

Donald Trump Jr. claims Barack Obama “plagiarized” seven words from his speech at the Republican National Convention, during the president’s address to Democrats on Wednesday. Democratic strategists are concerned that the youth and the African-American voters may not be as enthusiastic as they were for Mr. Obama and the President specifically addressed the supporters of Bernie Sanders. McCullough says she has been most inspired this week by the speakers who have shared personal stories, some tragic, like that of Christine Leinonen, whose son was killed in the June 12 mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

The recent days of convention activity have highlighted the unity of the Democratic party after a divisive presidential campaign from Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and his supporters, and speculation that Sanders supporters may not support Clinton. He hopes their silence will signal that the Democratic Party has not unified around Clinton-contrary to media reports. But four years later, the first lady did take the stage to defend both herself and Bill Clinton.

Clinton’s proposals are an extension of President Barack Obama’s two terms in office: tackling climate change, overhauling the nation’s fractured immigration laws, and restricting access to guns.

“A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama”, Trump speechwriter Meredith McIver said, in a statement issued last week. “Even in the middle of crisis, she listens to people, and keeps her cool, and treats everybody with respect”.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who tried to pitch himself to young, liberal voters during his own run for the Democratic presidential nomination, also spoke.

Freda Player, political director of the Service Employees International Union Local 205 and Clinton delegate, said it was “the unity speech” that Democrats needed.

The mother of two also says she isn’t sweating the harsh attacks on her mom during the campaign. The platform is not binding on the nominee.

Following reports Russian Federation hacked Democratic Party emails, Trump said he’d like to see Moscow find the thousands of emails Clinton deleted from the account she used as secretary of state.

Do you consider yourself a Democrat?

“I will never be comfortable with saying that I fully support Hillary Clinton until I see her make the strides to gain our full support”, Smith-Brown said.

“I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me”. Elaine Geller, a 60-year-old marijuana lobbyist from Denver, said that when she graduated college, it was virtually impossible to get a job.

“I’m asking you to have an open mind, and use your voice because on November 8 it will be just as powerful as any NRA lobbyist”, she says. Those divisions were exacerbated by thousands of internal emails published on WikiLeaks that suggested Democratic Party officials were working behind the scenes in the final weeks of the primaries to help Clinton.

The continued protests throughout the week have underscored the party’s troubles rallying the impassioned Sanders supporters to the Clinton’s side.

What Democrats could have done instead would have been riskier, but far more strategic: They could have made the case that even decidedly non-radical figures like Norman Ornstein and Ezra Klein have made a version of-that Donald Trump is, in fact, the Republican Party, and that even if he’s a bit more extreme and a bit more racist, he is a logical outcome of the party’s momentous shift to the right over the last 20 (and certainly last eight) years.

“It’s not about the convention, it’s about the country”, he said. She made up for the deficit only in the 45+ category.

But some Sanders delegates don’t have much sympathy for Clinton. “Unless we get down at the local level, voting for mayor, voting for council members, voting for state seats, then we are not really making change”. “Either he’s not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn’t been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay, or perhaps he hasn’t been giving money to the vets or to the disabled like he’s been telling us he’s doing”.
