Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Martina Hingis moved into Wimbledon semifinal after beating Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday.

Hingis, a member of the worldwide Tennis Hall of Fame, and doubles partner Sania Mirza are seeded No. 1 and won their semifinal against the fifth-seeded American pair of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears 6-1, 6-2 on Friday.

(2012) with compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi and the US Open with Bruno Soares a year ago.

Ninth-seeded Bopanna and Mergea, who have been in top form coming into the tournament, were on the brink of their maiden final here before going down 6-4, 2-6, 3-6, 6-4, 11-13 to Dutch-Romanian fourth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau in the marathon match on Court 2 of the All England Club. They scored 59 points to just 33 of their rivals.

Next up, they will take on formidable American top seeds Mike Bryan and Bethanie Mattek-Sands for a place in yet another final. Though they gave three breakpoint chances to Raquel and Abigail, they managed to save all three. They broke their opponents in the very first game and immediately put their serves under pressure.

Russia’s Elena Vesnina and Ekaterina Makarova were facing Kristina Mladenovic and Timea Babos in the second semi-final.
