Hip-hop group: Betsy DeVos is bad for the inner cities

Patty Murray (D-WA) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) sent Education Secretary Betsy DeVos a letter asking why the website for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is no longer available. Before her confirmation, Senate Democrats seized the floor to stop her from taking office.

“The fact that, for the first time in American history a Vice President had to break a tie to confirm a member of the President’s cabinet, tells me that Betsy DeVos is not qualified to lead the U.S. Department of Education”, said Del. There was also her answer about having guns present in schools.

On Friday, protestors briefly prevented DeVos, a champion of controversial charter schools, from entering a public school in Washington DC.

“I am personally anxious that she’s going to use a large sum of federal funding for charter schools, which I think will negatively impact public schools”. This was caused by the state government’s own inability to allocate more resources to public schools, he said.

We pay the extra costs of a private education, don’t want our children to be subjugated to the “dumbed down” public school education system.

DeVos has expressed that her political efforts “are focused on advancing educational choices”, as her website states. “We must set an example for our students and reach a common ground”. Trump opened the meeting saying he wants “every child to have an opportunity to climb the ladder of success”, according to the press pool report from the event.

“There have been revisions to it, so for the administration to talk about scrapping it without a replacement is kind of concerning”, Mr. Burns continued. Under DeVos I expect there will be more “poorly educated” for Trump to love. This is unsettling for public schools because it means schools that aren’t held to the same academic standards are taking money that could be used to enrich public schools that play by the rules. “We don’t need just well-intentioned people, we need smart people with experience in education”. The quality of the schools varies by location, making it hard to make a broad-brush assessment of the accountability and achievement of the schools.

Given the influx of protests across the country, Watson said he hopes an honest conversation can be started as to why these protesters are doing what they’re doing.
