Hispanic Groups Protest Trump as ‘SNL’ Host Next Month
In the letter Gutiérrez said having Trump host the show represented a “level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said is since the moment he launched his campaign is acceptable and no big deal”.

The campaign, which employs the hashtag #RacismIsntFunny, is trying to stop Trump’s scheduled “SNL” appearance on November 7 via social media and multiple online petitions.
Deggans also argued that NBC seemed to be “mending fences” with Trump, who was sacked as host of “The Celebrity Apprentice” days after describing Mexican immigrants as “rapists” who were bringing drugs and crime across the border.
An NBC spokesman declined to give DailyMail.com a comment on the matter.
“Saturday Night Live” hasn’t pulled punches with political controversies, but its upcoming host has Latino groups out there swinging.
This would not be Trump’s first time hosting Saturday Night Live.
At the time, NBC fired Donald Trump, citing his “derogatory statements”. “It’s appalling for a show to showcase a man whose campaign has been built on bigotry and demagoguery for the sake of buzz and ratings”.
‘When Trump was a guest at the Tonight Show (a Lorne Michaels show on NBC), he was allowed to make a mockery of the Hispanic community by him and host Jimmy Fallon, laughing at the building of the wall in an interview and a sketch.
The Tonight Show had its best Friday ratings in 18 months when Trump was on last month.
“Now, he’s invited as a guest host on Saturday Night Live (another Michaels” show). “I think they’ll have luck in driving up the ratings”, he said. “Do you know how much I’ve spent?” Republican rival Sen. Marco Rubio brushed off the “SNL” protests, saying, “If you don’t like it, don’t watch the show”. Cameos by presidential and vice presidential candidates have always been woven into the fabric of “SNL” – think Sarah Palin in 2008 or Hillary Rodham Clinton this month – and many politicians, including Sen. John McCain and former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, have hosted the show.

The group also questioned how SNL could “justify casting zero Latinas over 41 seasons and only 2 Latinos (Horatio Sanz and Fred Armisen) over the same period, while promoting Trump’s divisive speech” toward Hispanics. “Allowing Trump to host SNL will legitimate and validate his anti-Latino comments…”
