Hofstra surprises Florida State 82-77 in Paradise Jam

Kacinas made 9 of 10 shots, finishing with 18 points and SC reached the championship game of the Paradise Jam with a 94-84 win over Hofstra on Sunday night.

Hofstra came out of the gates firing away from deep, trying to keep up with a high-octane Seminoles offense that scored 109 points in its opening contest. Hofstra, averaging 89.5 ppg, faces Indiana State Monday in its final Paradise Jam game. Tulsa is led by former Miami and Missouri head coach Frank Haith.

ABOUT FLORIDA STATE (3-1): The Seminoles, who have won 12 straight games when they score at least 80 points, were a bit flat in their tourney opener, dropping an 82-77 decision to hot-shooting Hofstra. The team as a whole broke a program record for three-pointers with 17, while Juan’ya Green netted 28 points, but SC dominated in the paint on both ends of the ball.

The Seminoles are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss.

The stat sheet pronounced the Pride’s frontcourt struggles: They were outrebounded 41-23, including just seven total boards in the second.

Jordan Dartis paced OH (3-2) with 24 points.
