Holcomb has less than four months to campaign in governor’s race

He was the replacement possibility closest to Gov. Mike Pence, who built a record on social issues Gregg will attack aggressively and from which Holcomb will have trouble distancing himself.

“We. can not allow our state to slip, drift go backward to those days of debt and delayed payments”, Holcomb said.

“This year has taken many twists and turns, but I am ready to answer the call, ready to lead us to victory and ready to take IN to the next level”.

Holcomb was Pence’s preferred choice to take on Democratic former Indiana House Speaker John Gregg.

“For too many Hoosier families, wages aren’t keeping up and the good paying jobs we are losing aren’t being replaced”, Gregg said. “Eric Holcomb wholeheartedly embraced the failed approach that embarrassed our state, cost us jobs and has left the middle class behind”.

The 22 members of the Indiana Republican State Committee scheduled a private meeting Tuesday morning in Indianapolis to choose among Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb, U.S. Reps. Holcomb is Gov. Mike Pence’s pick to take his place as the Republican candidate for governor following his withdrawal to become Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate.

“I am honored to receive the nomination of the Indiana Republican Party to serve as our candidate for Governor”.

Wisconsin Republicans are working quickly coordinating a Wednesday campaign stop for the GOP’s vice presidential candidate. And Holcomb pressed his case over the weekend, arguing he had been promised assistance from Pence’s more than $7 million campaign fund, which he said was “something no other candidate in this race can boast”.

Sen. Dan Coats congratulated Holcomb on his selection and said he is the best person to serve as the next Indiana Governor.

“We just need to call people to make sure that all our volunteers are aware the event is going on so they can go to that event and also to get all our interns and volunteers to help out with the event”, Alexandra Kurpiel said.

Holcomb said he will continue to move the state forward.

“I don’t think he’s a Brie cheese-and-chardonnay kind of guy”, Dunn said of Holcomb. “But I’m not going to sacrifice my core principles”.
