The fan frenzy surrounding the release of a film starring Indian superstar Rajinikanth can easily rival the fervour of any major festival.

Well, Kabali did so good business like expected by the movie, Kabali opened up with the 80% occupancy in cinemas and collected more than 48.20 Crore from the very first day of release.

With “Kabali”, Thailava also broke his own box-office record, which stood at Rs 37 crores earlier.

So for a film that has been sold at such a high rate, the collections received on Day 1 and Day 2 is pretty average. The thinking being: the employees are anyway unlikely to work that day and why not generate some goodwill by getting them the first day tickets.

Kabali Movie is will be releasing over 300+ screens in Indonesia by Malik Streams who recently released Theri film.

Although, according to an industry insider, the maker’s box-office collection claim seems highly exaggerated. Let’s check the detailed report of Kabali Sunday collection and see how the Rajinikanth-magic is working all over India.

Hence, all that differentiated Kabali (a title that can hardly be comprehended by all-India audience) from other South releases was one man – Rajinikanth. “Kabali [Tamil+Telugu] opening in global markets: Malaysia: No 1 [Thu+Fri] USA-Canada: No 3 [Thu pre] UK: No 10 [Thu+Fri] @Rentrak”, tweeted Taran Adarsh. The record stayed with it till Bahubali came and smashed all records by more than doubling then opening day of Robot.

After the release of Sultan, Great Grand Masti hit the silver screens but fails to compete with Sultan and Now the latest film Madaari competing with Sultan. Rajinikanth merchandise was selling briskly outside theaters in Tamil Nadu. Previously, Raina had even attempted to impersonate Rajinikanth in one of the team-building activities that were organised in CSK and needless to say, he did a decent job of it.

Because, in the end, Rajinikanth remains a larger-than-life superstar and a one-man cult. It’s a south Indian movie and honestly it doesn’t make sense, I won’t rate it more than 2.5.

Box-office collection aside, the film, which was made on a budget of Rs 100 crore, has already earned about Rs 225 crores from the sale of theatrical, audio and satellite rights.
