Holly Holm’s Next Match May Not Be With Ronda Rousey

Rousey, who is the UFC’s biggest draw, lost her title to Holly Holm on November 14 in Melbourne, Australia, in a monumental upset.

Lenny Fresquez, Holm’s manager, also said in the report that he would like to see Holm fight before her rematch with Rousey.

While White didn’t officially name Holm’s next opponent, FOX Sports’ Damon Martin points out that Miesha Tate likely will get the first shot at the new champion.

Meanwhile, White confirmed that Rousey will be back in action this year, but stopped short of narrowing down when the 28-year-old could possibly make her comeback, despite reports of a comeback in July.

According to the Los Angeles Times, UFC President Dana White extended the Australian champion’s fighting contract and the organization is looking to establish Holm’s next fight. The loss to Holm already allowed future opponents to get a peak at possible weaknesses in her once un pregnable attack.

It remains unclear whether Holm will sit on the sidelines and await that bout, or take an interim fight. I don’t see a point in reliving the moment when a part of my loved one died, when I saw someone I cared about have her soul crushed. She has appeared in films like The Expendables 3, Entourage movie past year and has appeared on numerous late night talk shows like The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

It was announced on Tuesday that the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will host NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in NY on January 23. Hopefully she’s ready to crack a few jokes about the kick to the head that KO’d her, but maybe it’s still too soon. The UFC has not yet announced her next fight. Will she break the news about an upcoming fight?
