Hollywood smile? Dog set to be fitted with his own BRACES

Jim acknowledged that the use of “dog braces” can seem like a odd procedure but the technique can really help animals with dental issues. He’s likely to get his braces off after a few weeks – just in time for the freshman dance.

The puppy belongs to Molly Moore, the daughter of the clinic’s veterinarian, Dr. James Moore, who is called a “doggie dentist” in the Facebook post.

But one pooch looked positively overjoyed after having his own set of braces fitted during a trip to see the “doggie dentist”. “He’s a happy little guy”.

According to the Harborfront Hospital for Animals website, Dr. Moore, DVM owns Veterinary Dental Solutions (VDS), a division of Harborfront Hospital for Animals located in Spring Lake, Michigan.

The hospital says orthodontia in pets is normally not for aesthetic purposes, but for health reasons instead, and since Wesley could not completely close his mouth he needed a tooth alignment. “The answer is… yes”.

Besides fitting braces, Dr Moore also specialises in pet root canals, often necessary if animals are in pain, or oral surgery for emergencies such as fractured jaws.

In the meantime, social media users can’t get enough of that sweet smile with one of Wesley’s pictures racking up more than 26,000 likes on Facebook.

“He is happily enjoying some of the benefits of his celebrity (although he already had ample hugs, kisses and belly rubs)”, the hospital wrote.
