Holm KO’s Rousey’s UFC world title

As standard UFC rules, Holm was then allowed to smash a couple more punches into the prone Rousey’s head until the referee then dragged her off to cheers from the crowd.

Rousey finally managed to get closer to her opponent in the second round, but that only allowed Holm to dish out more punishment.

“I think a rematch makes sense for sure”, Holm said. Rousey can easily win this fight with her judo and submission grappling and ultimately, I would expect her to return to that if she feels unsure about how the fight is going. “I have to say that everything that we worked on presented itself in the fight”.

Holm took the title via a second-round KO at UFC 193 in Melbourne – one of the biggest shocks in the sport’s history.

“Everything that we talked about is essentially what went down”, UFC president Dana White said to Fox Sports 1’s Ariel Helwani, adding that he thought Rousey had earned an immediate rematch whenever she wants one.

Holm, 35, is now the first person to be a legitimate world champion in both boxing and mixed martial arts.

“This is the fight Holly has been expecting for a long time”, he said.

Before the fight, Bovada had her betting odds to win at -2000, “meaning you would [have won] a measly five dollars if you bet 0 on Rousey to win”, according to For The Win.

Fight of the Night was awarded to the main event bout between Rousey and Holm. There’s been a lot of blood, sweat and tears but it was all worth it.

Following the fight, Rousey left the Octagon and was taken to a local hospital for treatment after her lip was split during the fight as well as precautionary reasons for the knockout.

“At the end of the day I made this fight”.
