News’ Lester Holt will moderate the first presidential debate, scheduled for September 26 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
We now know which journalists will moderate the televised presidential debates this fall between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
The second debate on October 9 at Washington University in St. Louis is a town hall format.
Holt was considered the front-runner to moderate the initial debate, after his colleague Matt Lauer was named to moderate the Commander-in-Chief Forum in New York City which will feature both Clinton and Trump, though the two won’t be on stage at the same time. This debate will take the form of a town hall meeting, where half of the questions will be posed directly by participants.
Elaine Quijano, an anchor at CBSN and a correspondent for CBS News, will handle the vice presidential debate between Democrat Tim Kaine and Republican Mike Pence.
And Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace will moderate the third debate on October 19 at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

Missing the cut were big names including Fox News’s Megyn Kelly, who famously butted heads with Trump in the first GOP primary debate. The pairing is also notable because it’s a first co-moderating situation. She led the RCP average by almost eight points at times in August.
