Up until last week, the Rockies were adamant that they would not move the face of their franchise, and Tulowitzki recently repeated his desire to remain in Denver. He’s been traded from the struggling Colorado Rockies, according to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal, but the destination is a shocker – the Toronto Blue Jays.

“Whatever happens on the Rockies’ end happens, but for me to sit here and try to force my way out of here, that’s not the case”, Tulowitzki told reporters, according to MLB.com.

Tulowitzki had been rumored as a possible successor to Derek Jeter in New York but now he’ll be trying to beat the Yankees instead from inside the division. Both players have had their share of injuries throughout their respective careers. The Rockies could still flip Reyes to another team or any other assortment of possibilities.

Tulowitzki, a five-time All-Star, signed a 10-year, $157.75 million contract extension with the Rockies in November. 2010.

He has put up a. 305 average with 12 home runs and 52 RBIs on the season thus far, on pace for another year of 20-plus dingers and a batting average of over.300.

Reyes played in only 32 games for Toronto this season, hitting. Having him cleared out of the Blue Jays’ lineup is the only sensible way to assure a slot in the field for Tulowitzki.

Hawkins, 42, will now be playing for his 11th team in 21 Major League Baseball seasons.
