According to WHDH.com, prison officials found a shank in Hernandez’s cell.

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, convicted in a 2013 fatal shooting, was reportedly moved to a segregated prison cell after a handmade knife was found in his cell.
As punishment for having the weapon, Hernandez, 26, was immediately taken out of general population and put into a segregated unit.
Hernandez is serving a life sentence for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez is now awaiting a trial for the 2012 double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. In May, CNN reported that Hernandez agreed to be on the lookout for one inmate who went into another prisoner’s cell at the correctional center. This is not the first time there has been an issue with him while he has been held in prison. That trial is scheduled to start early next year. The two inmates fought, with a source telling CNN the altercation was believed to be gang-related.

Hernandez was a fourth-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2010. The Massachusetts Department of Corrections did not comment. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty.
