The story of Deserts of Kharak centers on chief science officer Rachel S’jet from the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid.
“On January 20, 2016, the creators of Homeworld invite you to lead the expedition that started it all in Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, a brand new sci-fi RTS from Blackbird Interactive, a studio founded by veterans of the Homeworld and Company of Heroes franchises”.
Deserts of Kharak takes players to the barren desert of Kharak, the source of a odd anomaly. The game will feature ground-based real-time combat that will take place across a series of massive environments that include dune seas, enormous craters, and vast canyons. Attack your enemies’ resource operations or assault their military head-on. Strategy will factor in between missions, with resource management essential to survival.
Compete solo or with friends to achieve a variety of win conditions.
Online multiplayer is supported by the newest Homeworld title, though details are limited to speaking of a variety of win conditions and the ability to reach the rank of Fleet Captain in competitive play. Stay tuned to OnlySP on Facebook and Twitter for further updates on Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. At the time it was called Hardware: Shipbreakers.
Gearbox Software bought the IP rights to the Homeworld franchise following THQ’s bankruptcy auction in 2013.
