Honda and Acura Recall
Well, it’s now Continental’s turn to recall vehicles with potentially faulty airbags – five million to be exact.

Power-supply circuit boards within the airbag control module can corrode over time, breaking electrical connections and causing airbags to either not deploy when they should or inadvertently deploy for no reason.
Fewer than two million affected vehicles are in the USA, according to a spokeswoman for Continental in Auburn Hills, Mich. Continental Automotive is a division of Germany’s Continental AG. They will be invited to take their vehicle to their local Honda dealership so an inspection can be completed and, if a fault is found, fit a replacement airbag inflator unit.
Honda Motor announced another round of recalls of cars equipped with Takata air bags Wednesday, highlighting a persistent divide on how much of the mounting costs should be shouldered by the supplier.
The Takata airbags inflator has the tendency to rupture in a crash spray metal shrapnel at the occupants.
In January 2008, Continental conducted its first round of investigation when a malfunctioning air bag control system was removed from a Mercedes auto.
Fiat Chrysler has reports of as many as 25 inadvertent air bag deployments. It applies to all cars, regardless of status: “Our dealer agreements require fix of all recalls before vehicle sale for any new or used vehicle”. Honda will not have enough parts for replacement for all vehicles until autumn.
Continental told the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the faulty electronic parts were built between 2006 and 2010. People filing complaints are not identified in the agency’s database. They say the driver’s air bag inflators made by Takata can explode.
Continental said only a portion of the 5 million affected cars are in the United States, but an exact number wasn’t available. Interim notifications will be mailed to owners beginning on March 15, 2016, and a second notice will be mailed when remedy parts are available.
The recall started with more than 20 million cars-most of those were older models. Richard Blumenthal and Edward Markey urged NHTSA to recall all cars with Takata inflators. The recalls also include vehicles made by Volkswagen, Mazda, Kia, Volvo trucks and Daimler.

But it’s no less serious, and automakers are already moving to recall affected vehicles in the US.
