Honda CR-V: Airbag Nightmare All Over Again
While the majority of vehicles recalled due to potentially injurious Takata airbag inflators are from the 2011 model year and earlier, GM recently recalled 395 vehicles due to a “suspect lot” of seat-mounted side airbags.

Honda has issued yet another Takata recall, identifying a potential problem with airbag inflators used in the 2016 CR-V. Fortunately only 515 Honda CR-V models have the defected airbags.
Let’s hope that the defective airbag modules is the only problem in the new Honda CR-V. if you’re one of the owners and doesn’t get any call from Honda, then you can feel relieved because that means that you’re good to go.
More than 30 million cars have been recalled worldwide since 2008 over Takata air bag inflators that have erupted with too much force, spraying shrapnel inside the vehicle. After Takata notified Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on October 12, 2015, Honda initiated actions to trace airbag modules containing inflators from the same lot as the failed inflator so that affected parts and vehicles could be quarantined. According to the report, Honda will be recalling the Honda CR-V to replace the driver side front airbag after it was reported that an airbag inflator made by Takata ruptured when it was being tested in Mexico.
Honda claims the recall is not due to the same type of issue which made automakers around the world recall their cars.

“If the inflator components separate, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material possibly causing injury or fatality to vehicle occupants”. The faulty airbag inflators have been linked to eight deaths and more than 100 injuries. Honda has responded by sharing that they will be commencing the recall somewhere in mid-December next month.
