Honda Debuts New 10th Generation Civic With Apple CarPlay Support

“This 10th-generation Civic is quite simply the most ambitious remake of Civic we’ve ever done”, says John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda, in a statement.

“While the Civic has stood atop retail compact auto sales since 2007, the challenge to its sales growth is evident inside Honda itself, where the Honda CR-V crossover – built on the same platform as the Civic – has become the hottest-selling vehicle in the hottest segment in America”.

The 2016 Civic will reach showrooms in the United States late in the third quarter of this year; South African release is planned for the third quarter of 2016.

Backing up the new Civic’s dramatic and sporty design with new power and efficiency, for the first time the 2016 Civic will feature two all-new engines – including the first-ever application of Honda turbo engine technology in the U.S. These powerful and fuel-efficient new engines combine with a sophisticated new body and chassis design to deliver incredibly responsive and sporty performance with a higher level of ride refinement and class-leading fuel efficiency.

Will be powered by the new 1.5-liter turbocharged i-VTEC Motor! .

The Civic is Honda’s best-selling auto globally, with over 800,000 units being sold every year.

With such a sweeping redesign, it only made sense that Honda would roll out new engines as well.

Although Honda won’t admit it, the current Civic strayed far from the car’s roots. To prove its relevance, the U.S.-developed, tenth-generation Civic throws everything and the kitchen sink at the market. The car’s interior will also have a significant upgrade, with “soft-touch” materials that give the vehicle a luxurious feel. Interior has 3.7 cubic feet more space than outgoing model, with 2 inches of additional rear-seat legroom. And while that might sound like the Civic is a sensitive soul that knows when you’ve had a crappy day, it’s actually a range of safety features including “Collision Mitigation Braking”, “Road Departure Mitigation” and adaptive cruise control, among other things.

This new model unveiled in Los Angeles on September 16 is said to be compatible with Apple CarPlay.

Honda says it is shooting for an EPA fuel-economy rating in excess of 40 miles per gallon on the highway. What we can see in those shots is pretty much enough to convince fans that the auto really is going to match their expectations and push this brand forward into the future.
