Entering Saturday’s match-up against Virginia, the North Carolina football team was riding a five-game win streak for the 2015 season and a five-game win streak versus the Cavaliers. “Hopefully we’ll keep getting better”.

“What separates a great team _ Wisconsin would be considered a great team a year ago _ and what separated them from us was a couple of possessions”, Marcus Paige, the senior guard, said.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, he plowed up the middle and fell as he extended his arm toward the goal line, and when the ball popped out, Virginia’s Zach Bradshaw scooped it up in the end zone. Nick Weiler kicked field goals of 29 and 37 yards for North Carolina.

When UNC Head Coach Larry Fedora looks at the tape, though, he doesn’t see a 2-4 team at all. To this point this has been too troublesome for the Tar Heels given the offense has the ability to overcome even 21 point deficits in Atlanta.

Running game continues to improve UNC’s one weakness on defense is against the run, giving up 213.8 yards per game coming in, but the Heels had done well in a 50-14 win over Wake Forest last week, limiting the Demon Deacons to 113 yards on the ground on 43 rush attempts.

“Obviously, we gave the ball up and shortened the field for them and gave them opportunities”, London said. However UNC’s schedule takes a turn now towards teams that have the ability to exploit UNC’s defensive shortcomings in the first half and limit the Tar Heels offensively making a rally very hard.

“We don’t have a whole lot of time to think about it”, Fedora concluded.

CHAPEL HILL, NC-Running back Elijah Hood scored on a pair of three-yard touchdown runs and North Carolina defeated Virginia 26-13 for its sixth consecutive victory on Saturday at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill N.C.

For UNC, Marquise Williams completed 21-of-26 passes for 226 yards while rushing for 71 yards.

SWITCHING SIDES: Virginia WR T.J. Thorpe spent the past four injury-riddled years at North Carolina before joining the Cavaliers as a graduate transfer. “And it’s not about all the adjustments, and speeches and all that. It’s really just staying calm and being patient with the guys and talking them through what’s really happening and letting them adjust to it”. “And I know he’s looking forward to this particular game”. It’s the reason Roy Williams himself said on Friday, “When I think of ‘Late Night with Roy, ‘ I don’t think of Roy. I think of Stuart Scott”.

TOUGH MATCHUP: The Tar Heels have the ACC’s best offense, leading the league in total yardage (482 ypg) and scoring (40.5 ppg), and last week Williams threw two long touchdown passes to former walk-on WR Mack Hollins. On that drive, Hood had five carries for 31 yards.
