Hoosier Muslims respond to Obama’s call to act
Malik came to the USA on a K-1 visa, known as a “fiancée visa”, when she moved to the United States to marry Syed Farook, her husband and accomplice in the massacre in the Southern California city last week. He announced the killing of Osama bin Laden in a speech from the East Room, a location that allows him to stride up to the lectern through the Cross Hall of the White House as the cameras are rolling.

The new measures give the lie to Obama’s claim a month ago that the only alternative to his military strategy was putting “large numbers of USA troops on the ground”. He argued that the Islamic State “does not speak for Islam”.
“We need to be understanding that we’re all in this together as Americans”, added Senator Cory Booker.
And Obama also asked for Congress to officially recognize US efforts in the fight against the terrorist group.
“Let’s not forget that freedom is more powerful than fear”, President Obama said.
His direct appeals were aimed at circumventing Republicans who have been cranking up the rhetoric about Muslims, weak immigration laws and terrorist threats in a feverish presidential election campaign.
With the San Bernardino mass shooting coming less than three weeks after the Paris terror attacks, Americans are fearful. They are thugs and killers. “The fact that this is only directed at the Muslim community is something that I personally can’t accept.”…
“There is a lot of suspicion of the Federal Bureau of Investigation here”, said Kamel, an immigrant from Egypt who came to the United States 13 years ago. He’s right that demonizing or discriminating against them not only violates American values, but will alienate Muslims.
He says you can’t make assumptions that all people are a particular way.
He spoke at an address to the public from Oval Office, where he explained the steps his government will take to prevent a similar attack happening in future.
But while his speech was definitely necessary, its impact was not as great as Obama would have hoped and America has dealt with Obama long enough to know that his promises might not necessarily be fulfilled.
Muslims in Northeast Florida said they were already feeling that discrimination.
Ian Roache recently graduated from Dundee University with a Masters Degree in International Security.
Obama has urged stricter gun laws following the California shootings, but like previous mass shootings, those calls have met resistance from gun control opponents. He also wants to block those on the “no-fly terror watch list” from buying guns.
That’s not to say Americans are defenseless.
“It is a moral outrage and a national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed specifically to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency”, it said. The pipe bomb damaged the building, but no one inside or injured during the attack.
It’s time Obama leaves his fantasy belief in mythical global warming and its connection to terrorism as the most important issue facing America. The U.S.is at war. While Obama made a valiant attempt, his speech did not accomplish his goal comforting Americans and could have been much more impactful had he presented an actual plan.

Typically, the president delivers Oval Office addresses from behind his desk. It remains to be seen whether Obama can maintain this stance if there is a significant escalation of the Islamic terrorist threat.
