U.S. Soccer announced it has suspended the goaltender from the U.S. Women’s National Team for six months for conduct that is counter to the organization’s principles.

Solo, who is one of the most decorated players in U.S. soccer history, has represented the U.S.at three Olympic Games, winning two gold medals, and three straight World Cups, but she will not be eligible to play for the U.S. Women’s National Team until February 2017.

The federation terminated Solo’s contract with the women’s national team, meaning that at age 35 she may have played her last game for the United States.

Writing on her Facebook page, Solo said she was “saddened” by the decision. “The best team did not win today”, said Solo, who later confirmed in a Tweet she had made the comments after the match in Brasilia.

After Sweden beat the USA team in the quarterfinals of the Olympics, the 35-year-old goalkeeper was mad about the opposing team’s tactics and told reporters, “I’m very proud of this team. My entire career, I have only wanted the best for this team”. Solo gave her opinion during an emotional post-game press conference following a shocking loss.

More recently, she’s called for better conditions for players in the National Women’s Soccer League. President Sunil Gulati said the suspension was the right move for the team, especially considering Solo’s past infractions.

Portions of the statement released by U.S. Soccer was reported from SB Nation.

“Given the cited conduct and alleged policy violation, we believe the proposed discipline to be excessive, unprecedented, disproportionate and a violation of Ms Solo’s First Amendment Rights”.

“Im very proud of this team”.

Solo will file an appeal, according to Nichols.

That was a pretty bad loss, but United States goalie Hope Solo’s drama is just making it a lot worse.

Last year, Solo was suspended for just 30 days after her husband was arrested on DUI suspicions with Solo in the vehicle.

Hope slammed the Swedish women’s soccer team after the USA was stunningly defeated and knocked out of medal contention early.

Last month, she became the first goalkeeper with 100 worldwide shutouts when the United States defeated South Africa 1-0 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
