Hope Valley College principal proud of ‘excellent’ GCSE results
A total of 56 per cent of students achieved five A*-C grades including English and maths plus 59 per cent of students reaching the new basics measure of an A*-C grade in English and maths.

This is the a year ago in which GCSE results are scored with grades A* to G.
Over half (51 per cent) of its Year 11 cohort achieved five or more A* to B grades, 81 per received A* to C in English language/literature and 86 per cent got an A* to C in maths.
“We have 11 students who have received full scholarships to independent boarding schools to study A-levels due to their exceptional results”, she said.
“It has been a privilege to celebrate both AS, A level and GCSE results recently and we look forward to welcoming our students back in September”.
Seahaven Academy is celebrating after significantly improving on last year’s GCSE results.
Ross, of Chapel Lane, Hadleigh, said: “It’s been really hard work because I’ve been balancing the two, but the school’s been really supportive”.
Abbie Crunkhorn (16), of Gosberton, who also came away with 11 A*s, said: “My results are so good and I don’t know what to think, my mind has gone blank”. There’s such a build up and so much hard work has gone in to it and now I can relax.
She said: “I’m feeling a mixture of excitement and relief”.
There were some stunning individual results with two pupils achieving A* grades in every single subject – a first for the school.
Schools minister Nick Gibb said: “I am pleased to see that there are more GCSEs being taken in the core academic subjects, those that give students a wider range of opportunities”.
