Hornets co-owner hits out at All Star Game move
“Our weeklong schedule of All-Star events and activities is meant to be a global celebration of basketball, our league and the values for which we stand, and to bring together all members of the NBA community-current and former players, league and team officials, business partners and fans”.

The NBA has said that the All Star Game, which generates millions of dollars in economic activity, could be rescheduled for Charlotte in 2019 if there was an “appropriate resolution to this matter”. Pat McCrory or Republican legislative leaders rethink their steadfast support of House Bill 2.
Ryan, as well as Ohio Representatives Marcy Kaptur, Marcia Fudge, and Joyce Beatty, applauded the association’s decision in a letter addressed to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.
The NBA has also sponsored games overseas in Russian Federation, where on top of legal discrimination gays are beaten by vigilante thugs, as well as Mexico, where transgender individuals are evidently not treated very well, otherwise they wouldn’t be seeking asylum in the United States.
The City of Charlotte is expected to lose at least $100-million dollars of revenue now that the 2017 All-Star Game is being moved elsewhere.
The NBA initially declined to move the game, but announced the decision to relocate on Thursday.
The NBA acknowledged North Carolina fans in their statement, calling them “among the most passionate in our league”.
“I’m still not sure what this issue has to do with corporation or a sports and entertainment wanting to come to our state. And I’m going to call people out on the misinformation that’s been directed toward us”, he said. It forbids cities and counties from applying broader standards in local ordinances or contracts.
To be certain, North Carolina’s House Bill 2 is the first in the nation to restrict transgender bathroom use.
“Since the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte is a private facility not subject to all of the provisions of HB2, at the 2017 PGA Championship, we plan to allow spectators to use the restroom that conforms with their gender identity or gender expression”, the statement read.
Cooper has refused to defend the law in court, while McCrory filed a federal lawsuit seeking to uphold it.
Lawyers for the companies – including General Electric Co., Microsoft Corp. and United Airlines Inc. – wrote that the law “is already damaging their ability to recruit and retain a diverse workforce and is imposing a substantial disincentive to investment and commerce in the State, directly impacting their bottom line”.

As process issues are sorted out, U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Schroeder is scheduled to hold a hearing in August 1 to determine whether the law should be put on hold while the legal battles are fought.
