Tom and Arnisteen Clark have been married 68 years and were only separated when Mr Clark, an Army veteran, served in Korea, ABC News reports.

The hospital shared the story through a Facebook post, which has since garnered more over 2,00 shares and over 8,300 likes.

Earlier this month they were both checked into Piedmont Fayette Hospital to be treated for separate health complications.

Once reunited, Tom was overcome with joy and wept as he described the deep love he has for his wife.

“I just can’t be away from her”, the 96-year-old told the hospital’s staff. “She’s the finest woman in the world”.

The couple remains hospitalized but together most of the time.

Being apart wasn’t easy for the couple, so Tina Mann, the director of the floor where the two are staying, knew just what to do. When the two got back together, Tom burst into tears when telling the nurses how much he loves his wife.

Tom said he can’t stand to be away from her.
