Hossa scores in OT to lift Blackhawks over Oilers 4-3

Sean Monahan has six goals on the season and his line – also featuring Johnny Gaudreau, who is the team point leader with 18 points, and veteran Jiri Hudler – has been Calgary’s best early on this season. Draisaitl has seven points, three goals and four assists, in his last four games.

Marian Hossa scored 1:08 into overtime and Panarin had a goal and two assists to lift Blackhawks over the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 on Wednesday night for their third consecutive victory.

The goal came after Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford robbed Oilers left winger Taylor Hall with a spectacular glove save in overtime, setting the stage for Hossa’s heroics.

“It was good to get a win starting this trip but the last two games we were much more effective than we were (Wednesday),” Quenneville said. “That’s how we won the game”.

Stafford put Winnipeg up 1-1 late in the second period with his first goal in 12 games.

The Hawks look to run their circus trip record to 2-0 behind a red-hot Patrick Kane.

The Oilers, who have allowed 10 power-play goals over their last 11 games, have scored exactly four goals in each of their last three wins, and have allowed exactly four goals in each of their last three losses.

“I think the third one I probably want to have back, it squeezed under my arm and that’s something that shouldn’t go in….” In nine games since being called up from the Oiler’s AHL affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif., Draisaitl has 14 points.

Benoit Pouliot, Jordan Eberle and Leon Draisaitl scored, Teddy Purcell had two assists and Edmonton lost their third straight.

“Hopefully we’ll have, not a full complement but, a larger complement of players to pick from”, coach Todd McLellan told the Oilers’ official website.

With 3:23 left in the second, Eberle found himself on a breakaway and roofed a shot just underneath the bar to pull one back.

Barring an unlikely playoff matchup, Wednesday was the last time the Hawks will face the Oilers at Rexall Place before they move to a new home next season.
