Hosszu Wins Third Gold! Claims 200m IM In Olympic Record Time
There’s 19-year-old Katie Ledecky who blew everyone’s mind Sunday night when she shattered the 400-meter freestyle world record; Uzebekistan’s 41-year-old gymnast Oksana Chusovitina schooling competitors 25 years her junior; Serena Williams bringing her signature slaying abilities to the tennis court; 19-year-old US gymnastics star Simone Biles exceeding her mythic hype.

Katinka Hosszu won the 100m backstroke at the Rio Olympics on Monday to add to her world-record victory in the 400 individual medley.
The Hungarian, already a victor in the 100m backstroke and 400m IM, edged out Siobhan-Marie O’Connor on Tuesday. Maya DiRado of the United States held on for the bronze.
If she wins that she would equal the women’s record of four solo swimming golds at a single Games set by East Germany’s Kristin Otto in Seoul in 1988. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency told USA TODAY Sports it has tested Hosszu three times out of competition in 2016 as well. Seven years ago, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, a condition marked by persistent gastrointestinal inflammation that can be accompanied by extreme fatigue. DiRado, who is making her Olympic debut in Rio, previously announced she would retire at the conclusion of the Games to kick start her career as a business analyst in Atlanta. This helped them appreciate Baker’s passion for swimming, and they worked to find medical accommodations that would allow her to continue to stay in the pool. “Cheating is completely alien to me as is shrugging off a self-serving attempt to undermine my credibility by someone completely unknown to me”.
And then in April this year, after Hosszu had what the NY Times described as a “rare bad day at the office” and finished 5th in both the 200m individual medley and the 200m backstroke, Tusup allegedly threatened her with physical violence.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun racing, knowing that I already have three”. “So that’s just something that definitely excites me”.
Fencing has featured in the Olympic Games ever since the first of the modern era in 1896, and this year 246 athletes from 47 countries take part across 10 events.

He said that the swimmer had told him that she credited her American-born husband for improving her strength, training and confidence. If the 200 IM final was scheduled before the 200 fly semis, there’s a much better chance she would have given this event a shot.
