She was kept as a slave and was repeatedly raped by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, according to her fellow captives, before she was killed in airstrikes early past year.

“‘I have been shown in darkness, light, and have learned that even in prison, one can be free, ‘ Kayla wrote her family in an extraordinary testament to her courage and compassion”, McCain said.

“I’ve been here too long, and I’ve been very sick”.

“For me, it’s like closing a really big book that you just read and now I can just sit back and enjoy it, spend some time here, watch the kids”, said Mueller.

At the special and emotional grand opening Saturday, Kayla’s father Carl said Kayla would be proud that she’s bringing so much joy to so many families.

“It broke my heart, but I also saw her strength”, she said.

“She loved life. She was happy and joyful, but she was on a mission”, says her mother, Marsha. When asked why DWB, also known as MSF by their French abbreviation, did nothing to negotiate her return, Jason Cone, MSF’s USA executive director explained it clearly.

Mueller, a 25-year-old humanitarian aid worker for Doctors Without Borders was abducted by ISIS terrorists in Syria in August 4, 2013 before she was killed two years later. On March 13, 2015, U.S. President Barack Obama visited her parents in Phoenix, Arizona, and asked them what he could do for them. “It’s very terrifying here”, Kayla said in a video.

At least seven Doctors Without Borders staff members were taken hostage and released by the terror group, and the organisation helped negotiate ransom payments.

“I acknowledged to them [the families of hostages, including the Muellers] in private what I want to say publicly – that it is true that there have been times where our government, regardless of good intentions, has let them down”, he said in a June 24, 2015 statement.

“Mum and dad, I still am remaining healthy”. You should have already received the three answers to the proof life questions you provided.

At that time, ISIS was not as well known as they are today and suffered only small Shiite populations Iraq and Syria.

IS then sent Mueller’s family three photos of the young woman deceased, with bruises on her body.
