The overall gross of the weekend’s films was $135.4 million, up almost 21% compared with the same weekend period past year. That honor probably goes to Roland Emmerich’s Stonewall, which opened at 129 locations and earned a dismal $871 per theater. The movie has introduced in $ fifty one.7 million so far. OPening at #9 was Eli Roth’s latest, the cannibal film The Green Inferno. The low totals and ninth place opening come as a disappointment to distributor High Top Releasing. It garnered 56 percent positive based on critics’ reviews aggregated by Rottentomatoes.com. The film should finish out with around $7 million to $8 million.

Closing out the top ten for the weekend was Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed drug-war thriller Sicario, which earned $1.8 million from screenings in only 59 theaters – which averages out to a whopping $30,000 per theater. That’s a solid placing Warner Bros. a unit of Time Warner (NYSE:TWX), considering Director Meyers’ film targeted older adults, who do not rush out on opening weekend but tend to deliver a long run, the movie played well in every part of the country.
