House Passes Symbolic Bill To Defund Planned Parenthood – Conservatives Say
While Planned Parenthood say they have acted legally and the tapes were edited, the videos have launched abortion into a prominent issue for the coming presidential election.

U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker granted Planned Parenthood of the Heartland’s request to block for 14 days the state from denying funding to the organization.
Planned Parenthood filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of three Jane Doe co-plaintiffs Friday contesting Gov. Asa Hutchinson’s ban on the organization’s involvement in Arkansas’ Medicaid program.
“There are just 18 Planned Parenthood locations in Illinois, but more than 40 federally funded health centers in the state where women can access all the same health care services except abortions”, Shimkus said.
None of the money Planned Parenthood receives from the federal government is used to provide abortion services, per requirements of federal law.
The GOP run house is on track to approve two measures Friday. A long-time abortion opponent, Representative Boehner hopes to satisfy conservative lawmakers who might oust him as leader for failing to oppose President Obama, while also avoid a government shutdown, which could damage the party’s appeal in the upcoming election.
The measure is unlikely to pass in the Senate, where Democrats have enough votes to defeat it. President Barack Obama has promised to veto any such bill if it arrives at his desk, and the issue will likely become a sticking point in federal spending discussions later this fall, prompting fears of another government shutdown.
“We have extremely well documented proof that there is no autism associated with vaccinations”, said Dr. Ben Carson. It’s important to know that Georgia has 274 health clinics that meet the unique health care needs of women, but do not perform abortions.
“If there is reason to investigate, then there is reason to withhold taxpayer dollars during that period of time“, said Rep. Blackburn. It’s an emotional hotspot among each side’s most loyal partisans and could be pivotal as each party seeks female voters.
The bills under consideration are The Protecting Infants Born Alive Act, introduced by Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-T.N.) and the Protect Infants from Partial-Birth Abortion Act, introduced by Rep. Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.).
But House conservatives still want to see a short-term measure that defunds Planned Parenthood – which would lead to a shutdown – and have threatened to force a vote on House Speaker John Boehner’s leadership. Planned Parenthood is already barred from using any federal money to provide abortions. The anti-abortion activists who secretly recorded the videos say they show that Planned Parenthood is illegally profiting from organ sales. And in a floor debate Friday, they called the bill an attack on women’s health care and noted that other health-care providers would be unable to absorb all of Planned Parenthood’s hundreds of thousands of patients. The hashtag #IstandwithPP began to trend while people fought against the House’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood.
