House Tries to Yank Planned Parenthood Funding
Nearly all Democrats voted against both bills, which are almost certain to be blocked by the Democratic minority in the Senate.

Congressman Mo Brooks went on Twitter to say his vote to freeze Planned Parenthood’s funding strengthens protections for infants that survive abortion.
The bills are a response to recently released videos that claim to show Planned Parenthood officials negotiating the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses to be used in medical research.
Those videos have helped mushroom the longtime political fight over abortion into a prominent issue for next year’s elections.
And while Rep. Tom Emmer backed the legislation, he was not among the 31 GOP leaders who recently signed a letter vowing to trigger a government shutdown if federal funding to Planned Parenthood isn’t cut off, the Star Tribune notes.
“Anyone who watches those videos… they are horrific”. “This bill is dumb, it’s foolish, and it’s mean-spirited with only one goal , and that is to punish one of our country’s premier health organizations because it provides women access to an array of services that we need to lead healthy lives”.
“These bills are written by politicians, for politicians, with no regard for the health of women and their families”, her statement said.
The House has listened to the American people and has taken action to demand accountability for Planned Parenthood’s inhumane practices.
No federal money can be spent on abortion except in dire circumstances such as rape or incest.
Democrats accused Republicans of engaging in baseless attacks against Planned Parenthood, with the larger goal of trying to limit women’s abortion rights, according to the New York Times. There is ample evidence to suggest that these alternatives to Planned Parenthood do not have the capacity to treat the group’s patient.
House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, staged Friday’s votes in an effort to placate the most conservative members of his party.
Boehner, a long-time abortion foe, has twin goals.
Rep. Diane Black, a nurse for over 40 years, sponsored the legislation.
Democrats said Franks’ measure was unneeded because clinicians allowing born-alive babies to die would face murder charges.
“I think it’s perfectly fine if there’s more debate and more discussion of Planned Parenthood as it relates to the budget”. Ted Cruz.
He agrees with Murray that the government should not be shut down over Planned Parenthood. I am again asking this question and would appreciate you sharing your strategy for success with all of us before any damaging government shutdown becomes imminent.

By a vote of 248-177-1 the House also passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, a measure that would change the laws regulating abortions.
