An expert searched third floor apartments and common areas but didn’t find any other snakes, according to a letter sent from Rice management to resident and obtained by KHOU.

He immediately snapped a picture because nobody would believe he’d seen a cobra roaming the halls of a luxury high-rise without photographic evidence.

One resident even tried to use a toy robot to corner the cobra. And I’m looking and looking and it moved and we screamed and we ran back into the apartment and shut the door.

“For a second, your brain does not compute what that is”, Johnson said.

The venomous cobra blocked neighbor Joseph Manglicmot’s front door. Enough to know I should not go near that.’.

Residents surrounded the young cobra and discussed throwing a laundry basket over him. “So it’s better to keep him in sight”. Then police officers arrived at the scene.

“I’ve had several experts look at it, and they all do believe it is a cobra”, said Jarrad Mears, division manager for Animal Control for BARC, the city’s animal shelter and adoption facility.

The snake was caught but authorities are now following up on rumors about a former resident who owned a cobra and was asked to leave the building.

Mears said he also does not know of any other snakes but is still urging residents to watch their step just in case. Officers handed the snake over to Moss, who decided to euthanize it because it was far too aggressive. The big questions now: Whose cobra was it? That particular snake is typically found in South and South East Asia.
