Houston RB Arian Foster out for the season

After missing the first three weeks of the season with a groin injury, Houston Texans star running back Arian Foster was just starting to look like his old self again.

The Miami Dolphins became the first team since at least 1940 to score four offensive touchdowns of at least 50 yards in a half, and they beat the Houston Texans 44-26 Sunday.

Dorsett, Indy’s first-round draft pick, was injured midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s game against New Orleans when he was hit low by one defender and then was awkwardly bent backward by another (see full story). Foster hopped off the field putting minimal pressure on his right foot.

“Nobody is more frustrated than we are in this building, coaches and players alike”, O’Brien said Monday.

“We’re going to work very hard to put together a better game plan for the Tennessee game, and we’re counting on our fans”, O’Brien said. Neither offers the vision, fluidity, versatility or game-breaking ability at the position that Foster offered, though each is an adequate, if unspectacular, replacement for the duration of the season.

“It’s devastating”, said left tackle Duane Brown, who is a close friend of Foster’s. There’s a good chance Foster has played his final down as a Texan, as he’s owed $7 million in 2016 salary and bonuses, and owner Bob McNair has grown increasingly frustrated with Foster’s inability to stay healthy. I know he has been hampered by injuries, but that excuse can’t hold forever. “There’s nothing you can do about it, but I feel bad for the guy”. “I know it’s pretty frustrating”. He played in only four games this year due to an injury at the beginning of the season that kept him out for a few games, and he managed just 163 yards and a touchdown on the ground (2.6 yards per carry).

Foster, who missed time earlier this season with a groin injury, has 63 carries for 164 yards, and 22 receptions for 227 yards this season. He missed three games last season and sat out eight games in 2013 after back surgery. Reed had 11 catches for 72 yards and two TDS in his return from a concussion.

Brian Hoyer and Mallett are Houston’s only two quarterbacks on the active roster with Tom Savage on injured reserve.

“I think it’s been decent”, O’Brien said of the other backs.
